Partnership on-site
Production supply with the Factory Train
When everyone does what they do best, the result is excellent. This is the case at Logwin's Langenselbold site. The company has been working with a customer in the medical technology industry since 2003, and the collaboration continues to develop.
It all began at the customer's factory. When the production site opened in Langenselbold in 2003, the customer engaged Logwin as its logistics partner for shipping. In a 1,000 square metre shipping area in the middle of the customer's production hall, Logwin's logistics specialists took over the packaging and preparation of the finished products. Due to the limited space, it was a real challenge to time the processes so that the goods could always be dispatched promptly.
With the opening of the 8,300 square metre Langenselbold logistics centre in October 2024, Logwin was able to take over and optimise further processes, such as the recent commissioning of the Factory Train. Logwin prepares the goods for production supply on a transfer area. From here, the Factory Train delivers to the stations in the production hall and also takes finished goods back with it. ‘As logistics specialists, we must always be alert,’ says branch manager Sven Salamon. ‘Never drive empty’ is common practice.
Logwin can respond quickly to peaks in demand. ‘We usually have three people assigned to the Factory Train, but we can temporarily expand this team at any time,’ says Sven Salamon. The Logwin team in Langenselbold has now grown to 42 employees. When Sven Salamon started in 2007, there were six. The daily routine also includes a supply chain management call with the customer. ‘This daily exchange is very important for our services, as it allows us to respond immediately to new developments,’ he says. ‘Everything can be managed well using defined KPIs.’
