BRANCH MANAGER LOGWIN SOLUTIONS DEUTSCHLAND GMBH, LOGWIN—SCHWÄBISCH GMÜND LOCATION

»I BELIEVE THAT BOTH CHANCE AND LUCK PLAY A ROLE IN ONE'S CAREER. SUCCESS OFTEN INVOLVES SOME AMOUNT OF LUCK. BUT BOTH CANNOT ARISE BY COINCIDENCE AND CAN ONLY BE ACHIEVED THROUGH HARD WORK.«

MARC S. AND LOGWIN

I started my apprenticeship at Logwin as a freight forwarding and logistics services agent at the Hanau location in 2007 and can now look back on many years with the company. I have only had one interruption when I took a 9-month hiatus from work in order to complete my compulsory military service.
However, even during this time, I was able to take up a part-time job with Logwin after a few months. I can still remember the day my branch manager phoned me to ask if I wanted to take up a part-time job during my military service. Since I had opted to serve in the civilian service, I happily agreed. At the time, I was staying at a hotel in Hamburg when the call came and many more years of employment followed from that part-time job. Since July 2019, I have been the branch manager of Logwin's Schwäbisch Gmünd site.

HOW HAVE YOU DEVELOPED YOUR SKILLS AND STRENGTHS AT LOGWIN? WHAT OPPORTUNITIES WERE YOU OFFERED/HAVE YOU TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF?

Ever since I have been with Logwin, employees have always been supported through and through. Of course, it is necessary for an employee to have a desire to develop. I have always been open to new tasks and challenges and attended many advanced training courses. I find the new seminars on the intranet for management and communication training excellent.

HOW DO YOU MANAGE TO MAINTAIN A BALANCE BETWEEN YOUR PROFESSIONAL AND PRIVATE LIFE?

As a branch manager, it is very difficult to always keep a good balance, which I admittedly still have a lot to work on. Given the stresses of the workday, I try to go to the gym regularly because exercise helps me recharge my batteries, which is crucial for getting through a hard day's work.

WHAT TOPIC COULD YOU GIVE A 30-MINUTE PRESENTATION ON WITHOUT ANY PREPARATION?

In the last few months, I have spent a lot of time studying body language. I have read a lot of books on the topic and have recently been working with a theatre actress in my spare time. In the process, I was also given the opportunity to perform on stage for half an hour. Based on the feedback received, I didn't do too badly at all. What I find really fascinating about body language is the fact that it is so ubiquitous and conveys volumes of information about a person. I think I could manage to give a 30-minute presentation on the subject without preparation.
