Logwin assumes warehousing responsibility for car manufacturer in Switzerland
Grevenmacher (Luxembourg) – The logistics services provider Logwin is now also operating in Switzerland on behalf of the car manufacturer BMW. Logwin has been running the “Dealer Metro Distribution Center” (DMDC) and the local spare-parts warehouse in Otelfingen near Zurich on behalf of BMW since 2 November this year. Logwin and BMW have been cooperating in Germany for many years, with the collaboration covering warehousing and distribution services at several German locations.
The logistics center in Otelfingen rented by Logwin has a total space of 5,500 square meters, with 3,000 square meters of this being used for the DMDC, and 1,500 square meters available for the local spare-parts store. The remaining 1,000 square meters serves as reserve space. The two-storey logistics facility is equipped with shelving rack systems for small and medium-sized items and special shelving for relatively light, bulky parts. There are also grid walls, tire racks and block store and pallet locations available. The DMDC stocks around 14,000 original BMW parts, ranging from screws through to satellite navigation systems. Logwin holds approximately 1,700 items on stock in the local BMW spares store. These are third-party products such as wheels, tires, batteries, snow chains and marketing articles.
