Outstanding trainee logistics specialists at Logwin

Grevenmacher (Luxembourg) – The Logwin Group is once more delighted at the honors awarded to its trainee logistics specialists this year. Florian Cybinski was presented with the 2011 Thesis Award during the 28th German Logistics Congress on 21 October for his practice-related bachelor degree dissertation. His paper was devoted to a feasibility study and concept for the introduction of a service provider-driven return-and-refill system for one of Germany’s largest suppliers of sports articles and to the development of strategic approaches to further market returnable containers. Since 2010 the German Logistics Association (Bundesvereinigung für Logistik – BVL) has been awarding prizes to outstanding bachelor, master and diploma degree dissertations that are rooted in practice, have a close affinity with themes of current interest and are also relevant to the field of logistics. Award-winners are nominated by academic supervisors at logistics-related institutes of universities, colleges, universities of applied sciences and cooperative state universities. Florian Cybinski completed his degree at the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University in Mannheim at the end of September and now works in the Freight Concept department at the Logwin location in Heppenheim.

Overall result “very good”

The Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Industrie- und Handelskammern – IHK) also present annual awards to young people who complete their vocational training with the top overall result of “very good”. This year’s best management assistants for forwarding and logistics also included Logwin trainees Sebastian Lustig (Frankfurt am Main region) and Hannes Riedel (Berlin region). Only 3.4  percent of all exam candidates in Germany achieved the top mark in 2011.

Sebastian Lustig received his prize from the IHK Frankfurt a. M. for his outstanding final mark on 13 September. He started as a vocational trainee in the Logwin location at Frankfurt Airport, was taken on after completing his training and now works as an import agent in Aschaffenburg. Hannes Riedel was delighted to receive the “Best of Year” award from the IHK Berlin on 15 November. After training with Logwin at Berlin Tegel Airport he decided to stay with the company and now works in the import and export department for Eastern European land transportation in Berlin.

“We are very happy with our highly qualified young specialists. The excellent results speak for themselves. And they also show that it is worthwhile focusing on promoting staff potential early on during training,” says Lutz Färber, Director Human Resources at the Logwin business segment Solutions. The international logistics service provider will also in future attach great importance to in-house training. “There is one clear answer to the impending shortage of skilled staff in logistics: training. It is the responsibility of companies such as ours to present our fascinating industry to young people and to train Logwin’s future employees,” explains Färber.

Whether an apprenticeship, a degree course or a combination of bother – there are a variety of ways to start out in the logistics industry.
