Logwin: Regional forwarding for General Motors Manufacturing Poland
Grevenmacher (Luxembourg) – The global logistics service provider Logwin and car maker General Motors Manufacturing Poland (GMMP) are to continue their long-established cooperation. The two companies concluded a new two-year contract for procurement logistics with effect from 1 January 2011.
“The contract calls for the transportation of approximately 80 loads per week from suppliers in the Czech Republic to the Opel plant in Gliwice in southern Poland”, explains Dr. Stephan Freichel, Managing Director Solutions | Sales and Logistics Engineering at Logwin. “We also perform the corresponding container and returns logistics on behalf of GMMP.” The procurement loads are just-in-time deliveries. Empty container logistics is performed on the “next-day” principle, with containers being consolidated.
Logwin is a long-established partner of General Motors Manufacturing Poland and Opel. “We have been working successfully for the Opel plant in Poland for eleven years and are delighted to have been awarded the district carrier contract in Central Poland”, says Stephan Freichel. “As logistics specialist we are responsible among other things for transporting goods between the Opel plant in Gliwice, Hungary and the Czech Republic. With our own Logwin facility on the factory premises we can ensure problem-free logistics processing.”
