Logwin founds its own countrywide organization in India
Grevenmacher (Luxembourg) – The worldwide logistics services provider Logwin has founded its own countrywide organization in India. In the first half of this year, four new branches opened in Delhi, Pune, Chennai and Bengaluru. The Logwin branch in Mumbai was already opened at the end of 2008. With more than 20 years of logistics experience on the subcontinent, Logwin is thus systematically proceeding with the development of the Indian market.
India’s economy is growing despite the global crisis. Analysts predict growth of 6.5 percent for the current fiscal year. “India continues to remain an attractive market for foreign investors, many notable companies have relocated their activities here,” explained Helmut Kaspers, COO of the business segment Air + Ocean of Logwin AG. “With our own company in India we are now even more strongly positioned. And for our customers we can realize comprehensive transportation services, as well as individually tailored SCM and outsourcing solutions.”
Vijay Nair – the new Managing Director in India
Vijay Nair (44) is leading the new countrywide company Logwin Air + Ocean India Private Ltd. The trained logistics expert has many years of experience on the Indian logistics market with a strong focus on air and sea freight. Logwin employs about 60 employees in its five Indian branches. They offer their customers complete logistics services, Along with air and sea freight, these services also include customs clearance, project execution and warehousing.
The headquarters in Mumbai as well as the branches in Delhi and Chennai are conveniently located close to the airports. The branch in Pune – about 160 kilometers from Mumbai – gives Logwin a presence in one of the most important centers for the Indian automobile industry. And also the new branches in the harbor city Chennai on the east coast of southern India and the IT metropolis Bangalore mean the prerequisites are optimal for the realization of customer projects. Logwin plans on opening a further five locations in India over the next two years.
Organizationally speaking, the India company is integrated into the Air + Ocean business unit of South East Asia (SEA) under the direction of Wolfgang Laube, Managing Director Region SEA at Logwin’s business segment Air + Ocean. The regional SEA teams will ensure energetic support with the build up and organization of Logwin’s new countrywide company in India.
Logistics solutions for industrial and consumer goods
Dependable logistics services are in demand in India – both for industrial as well as for the growing consumer goods sectors. “The Indian market offers a lot of potential for our customers, and thus for us as well,” said Helmut Kaspers. “At the same time the complicated duty systems, bureaucratic hurdles and the infrastructure, which for the most part is still under construction, require plenty of logistics know how.”
