Logwin doubles storage space in Vietnam

Grevenmacher (Luxembourg) – The global logistics service provider Logwin has expanded its storage capacities on two locations in north of Vietnam. The facility in Hanoi now has a total area of 2,000 m² instead of the previous 1,000 m². The space at Logwin’s container freight station in Haiphong has also been doubled from 1,000 m² to 2,000 m². In addition, the logistics service provider will be moving into a new, larger warehouse with around 1,000 pallet storage positions in Ho Chi Minh City in the south of the country. “The demand for reliable warehousing and logistics solutions is growing in Vietnam – in particular for fashion products such as clothing, shoes and accessories”, says Helmut Kaspers, COO of the business segment Air + Ocean at Logwin AG. “In 2010 we processed around 75,000 cubic meters of fashion articles at our three locations in Vietnam, and we are anticipating a significant increase for 2011.”
Growing economy
After Vietnamese exports declined by ten per cent in 2009 over the previous year, 2010 once more saw increased growth. The volume of imports and exports is forecast to grow by 20 per cent this year. According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, air freight to and from Vietnam increased by 37 per cent to 340,000 tonnes in 2010 over the previous year. “The textiles industry is and will remain Vietnam's biggest growth sector”, explains Maik Juengst, Country Director at Logwin's national company in Vietnam. “We see great development potential for our customers.” Logwin has increased its warehousing capacities not just for the local market. The expansion will also benefit customers who export their products by air and sea freight using Logwin's global network of locations.
Strategic choice of locations
Logwin operates its Vietnamese locations near the large textile production centers of Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Hai Phong, employing a total of 40 staff at the three locations. The activities it provides range from freight management, warehousing and customs clearance to value-added services. Logwin supports customers in various industries such as the automotive, fashion and medical sectors. The company already celebrated its 20th anniversary in Vietnam in 2009.
