Grevenmacher (Luxembourg) – Flexible logistics solutions for time-critical shipments: The internationally operating logistics service provider Logwin introduced its Overnight Service in Austria 10 years ago. After ten years of express deliveries at night the result is: 720,000 shipments, around 9 million kilometres and a punctuality rate of over 99 %. "Flexibility, speed and reliability characterize our Overnight Service. In contrast to courier and express delivery services we can deliver before 7 am when required," Michael Peschek, Director Operations CEE at Logwin, explains the success of the service. "Moreover, there are no weight restrictions. The only condition is that one person must be able to handle the package."
The special network now comprises 60 fixed locations and numerous drop-off boxes throughout Austria. Up to 100 delivery vehicles are in operation here at night. Customers outside Austria can also use the service: Logwin provides delivery per overnight express at over 26 locations in Germany, the Czech Republic and Poland.
So far the service has mainly been used by companies in the high-tech industry, agricultural engineering and the medical and pharmaceutical sector. Besides time-critical technical spare parts and capital-intensive goods, Logwin also transports goods with a short shelf-life. The logistics service provider delivers, for example, oxygen bottles direct to a patient’s home or supplies hospitals with special gases in bottles. Moreover, Austrian institutes of nuclear medicine are supplied with time-critical medical products (class 7 dangerous goods) on a daily basis. Logwin also offers delivery behind the first lockable door, to the respective desk or to the post box, to the toolbox or to the technician’s shelf if required.
Logwin’s Overnight Service in Austria
Logwin picks up domestic shipments until 11 pm and international consignments until about 6 pm. Logwin guarantees delivery within Austria at clearly defined times between 0.00 am and 9.00 am on the following day, including Saturday. There is no weight restriction provided the packages can be handled by one person. The hand-over points have barcodes for secure identification, and each package is scanned there. Continuous electronic documentation ensures maximum transparency during the entire transport, and Logwin also provides a 24-hour emergency hotline, an SMS text messaging service for the consignees and a parallel returns management service with its express service at night.
