Grevenmacher (Luxembourg) – The global logistics service provider Logwin has now been an official IATA agent for 40 years. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) approved the company’s application with effect as of 2 August 1971. Since that time, Logwin has guaranteed its customers reliable airfreight services on the basis of internationally recognised IATA quality standards.

With its freight agent program, IATA guarantees an industry-wide standard. This benefits not only aviation companies, but also agents. Agents have their financial performance and expertise accredited, while the aviation companies obtain access to a global network consisting of strong and competent partners to market their airfreight services.

IATA still setting the course

In addressing the constantly new challenges facing the aviation industry, the member airlines are always working together with freight forwarding representatives on the structural framework of the agent program. By passing resolutions they regulate the terms and conditions of business for both parties and specify criteria for obtaining and maintaining agent status.

Membership numbers have increased steadily since the inception of IATA. “We are proud of our close cooperation with this internationally significant association over the past 40 years”, says Tomas Sonntag, Head of Global Airfreight Product Management and Managing Director Far East Asia at Logwin. “Current initiatives such as the paperless future resulting from the introduction of E-freight and electronic air waybills are also supported by this alliance.” Today, as in the past, Logwin fulfils all the requisite criteria as an agent - IATA has been applying its stamp of approval to this outstanding level of quality now for over 40 years.

Background:

IATA was established in Havana in 1945 and since then has been representing the economic and political interests of around 230 aviation companies, which together provide around 93 percent of all international air freight flights. Its aim is to promote and support the safe, regular, ecological and economical transportation of goods and passengers by air. In addition to initiating "Secure Freight" with the aim of establishing a global security standard, IATA has established a "Cargo Security Task Force" in order to actively shape the development of air freight security provisions.
