We are happy to help
After devastating catastrophes like the earthquake in Haiti or the tsunami in Eastern Asia, there is great need for immediate aid. Logwin assumes its social responsibility and is helping people in distress.
Logwin and its employees first of all do what they do best: shipping goods. We make our contribution by ensuring safe and quick shipments of life-saving equipment, food and medical supplies to the disaster areas.
Beyond the transport of relief supplies there are further projects initiated by our employees:
Donation for Thailand: Logwin undertakes aid transport
In December, Logwin provided support for a fund-raising campaign in aid of flood victims in Thailand. We transported 15 professional high-pressure cleaners made by Kärcher free of charge from Stuttgart to Bangkok. The recipient was the Save the Children aid organization.
Teddy bears for children in Tunisia
In February this year staff at the Logwin branch in Langenfeld collected new and used toys. They packaged the items in the warehouse and shipped them to Sousse, Tunisia. The final destination was the corporate kindergarten of a long-standing customer. The children there were thrilled to receive the toy cars, puppets and teddy bears – they would have happily stayed longer at kindergarten that day. Particularly in the wake of the recent political upheaval in Tunisia, the staff at Logwin were deeply moved to be able to help the affected children in the country.
Logwin in China donates for school
1st June sees the spotlight focussed on China’s youngest: It is Children’s Day. This year, all 150 students at Jiacheng School in Anhui Province were able to celebrate something extra special. Logwin’s Shanghai branch gave the school five PCs, books, school bags and stationery. Logwin staff supported the idea of the donations with gusto and many were actively involved on a private level. Outside China’s modern metropolitan centres such as Beijing and Shanghai, there is great poverty in many rural areas. Most schools do not have the materials required to ensure adequate levels of education. The educational materials handed over by Logwin will help the first to eighth graders to power ahead in their learning activities.
1,000 footballs for children in Ghana
Anthony Yeboah, Anthony Annan and Gerald Asamoah – well known football-stars coming from Ghana. Aim of the project “1000 footballs for children in Ghana” is to provide children who are keen on sports with footballs. Initiators of the project are the doctors of the German football teams "TSV 1860 Munich" and the "Spielvereinigung Unterhaching". Logwin is taking over the handling and transportation from Germany to Ghana free of charge. First of all the Logwin truck has to cover a distance of 1,000 kilometres: the truck starts in Munich. The next stations are Graefelfing, Aschaffenburg, Dusseldorf and Hamburg. During the long journey more footballs and of course air-pumps will be loaded. End of February 2011 the transport to Tema in Ghana will start via oceanfreight.
Contribution for a school project
Logwin in Italy sponsored a school project held by the African Medical Research Foundation (AMREF) and contributed in re-packaging and transporting two computers, six laptops, one sewing machine and some books from Italy to Nairobi, Kenya. AMREF is an international African organisation headquartered in Nairobi whose vision is "Better Health for Africa". With more than 50 years’ experience in health development, AMREF today is one of the continent’s leading health development and research organisations.
Computers for Tansania
Logwin is contributing to a school project by handling the transportation of ten computers, ten laptops and technical accessories from Germany to Tanzania. The shipment also includes a complete photovoltaic solar system for lasting, ecologically friendly electricity to power the PCs. Students at the Odenwald District Vocational School Centre in Michelstadt, Germany, organized the aid delivery for the School in Tanzania. Students from the Odenwald District will also be taking care of the installation of the equipment themselves: in May they will be travelling to Tanzania.
Aid supply for Haiti
After the earthquake, Logwin has shipped a helicopter as well as 36 pallets of relief supplies such as baby food, dressing material and medical supplies to Haiti. A leading German fundraising organization had asked for Logwin´s support in loading and shipping the goods. Logwin gladly consented in taking over these tasks at no charge and ensured a smooth transportation just into the disaster area.
Employees work extra hours for Haiti
In our Heppenheim branch office, the employees gave aid for Haiti by conducting a special project for one of their customers by nonpaid extra work. The donation for these nonpaid hours were given to the organization “Bensheim hilft” (Bensheim helps). This organization is closely cooperating with the CBM in Port-au-Prince and therefore is able to give direct aid in Haiti.
